Privacy

Plain English version.

This site is operated by Directly Responsible, the publishing brand of an S-corporation owned by Mark Ingles. When this policy says "we," that's who we mean. If you have a question about anything below, the contact form on the site reaches us.

What we collect from you directly.

Only what you choose to send us through a form:

  • Your email, if you ask to be notified or to receive the book.
  • Your quiz answers, if you submit them with your email at the end of a quiz.
  • Your message and contact details, if you write in through the contact form.

We don't sell, rent, or share that information with anyone outside the third parties listed below — and those third parties are only handling it on our behalf so we can do the thing you asked us to do.

Third parties that touch your data.

Beehiiv — our email service provider. When you opt in to receive the book or a resource through one of our quiz pages, your email and the answers you chose to send are passed to Beehiiv so they can deliver what you asked for and send our occasional follow-up emails. Beehiiv stores subscriber data in the United States. Beehiiv's privacy policy.

Web3Forms — the form processor for our contact form and the email-signup boxes on the home and excerpt pages. Form submissions pass through Web3Forms, which forwards them to our inbox. Web3Forms's privacy policy.

PostHog — product analytics. PostHog records pageviews, clicks, and quiz interactions so we can understand which pages help and which ones don't. PostHog data is hosted in the United States. PostHog's privacy policy.

Meta (Facebook Pixel) — advertising measurement and retargeting. The Meta Pixel fires on page load and records that you visited the page, plus a small set of events like completing a quiz or opting in. If you are logged into Facebook or Instagram, Meta can associate that visit with your account. Meta's privacy policy.

Google Ads — advertising measurement. The Google Ads conversion tag fires on page load and records that you visited, plus any conversion event such as opting in. If you are signed into Google, Google can associate that visit with your account. Google's privacy policy.

Cloudflare — our hosting and DNS provider. Cloudflare keeps standard server logs (IP address, request path, user agent) for abuse prevention. We don't read or retain those logs.

Tracking pixels fire on page load.

We don't show a cookie banner because we don't run ads outside the United States, and because we'd rather tell you about our tracking on this page than in a banner you have to dismiss. If you don't want the Meta or Google pixels to fire, you can block them with a browser extension like Privacy Badger or uBlock Origin; the site will still work normally.

Email and unsubscribe.

Every email we send through Beehiiv has an unsubscribe link in the footer. Clicking it removes you from the list immediately. If you also want your data deleted from Beehiiv entirely, reply to any email and say so — we'll do it.

Your rights.

You can ask us at any time to tell you what data we have about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Reply to any email or write through the contact form. We'll do it within a reasonable time.

Changes.

If we materially change this policy we'll note it on this page. The version date is below.
